Industrial MCP servers inside the IDE
As of 3 November 2026, 1 of 21 industrial MCP servers works inside the engineering IDE, on the open project, and not as a field-protocol client.
- CODESYS Development System MCP ServerCODESYS · IEC 61131-3
Official CODESYS add-on that lets an MCP client read and write the open project, compile, and fix Structured Text.
Standalone add-on for CODESYS V3.5 SP22 or later, licensed through the CODESYS Professional Developer Edition. CODESYS says it works with cloud models and local LLMs, and names Claude Desktop and GPT as examples that exchanged data successfully. Help text reported by LADX says the server is local stdio, Structured Text can be written, and graphical languages can be read but not created. CODESYS recommends Git because undo is limited, and a local model when the project is sensitive. Readers of Computer & Automation voted it Product of the Year 2026 in Software and IT.

This is not a safety case. The counts describe the public tool surface on each entry's last-verified date. They do not certify a server, a model, a network, or a plant. A gated write is still a write once you arm it.
