Python Modbus MCP server for TCP, UDP, or serial, including write tools in the default set.

Who it's for

An engineer attaching an MCP client to Modbus. Treat the write policy as the safety boundary: a gated write is still a write once you arm it.

Caveat / limitations

MIT. Tools cover holding registers, coils, and input registers. Writes are part of the advertised surface, configured by host environment variables. There is no register map, so the model sees raw values. Do not aim it at a production gateway.

Protocols

ModbusModbus TCP, UDP, and serial RTU. Still the everyday protocol on meters, drives, and small PLCs. Register meaning is vendor-specific: an address without a map is just a number.
