Who it's for

An engineer attaching an MCP client to PROFIBUS. Treat the write policy as the safety boundary: a gated write is still a write once you arm it.

Caveat / limitations

IndustriAgents marks PROFIBUS as preview. The default serial backend is not implemented. An optional pyprofibus class-1 master is described as tested only against a simulated PHY. Use PROFIBUS_BACKEND=mock. Listing it here so the gap is visible: this will not run a real DP segment.

Protocols

PROFIBUSPROFIBUS DP is a serial fieldbus. Public MCP servers here still stop at GSD parsing and mocks; a real DP master is a different project.
